About Us
A few years ago, in December, we started blending,
roasting and packaging our own coffees.
roasting and packaging our own coffees.
The road to our decision was not exactly smooth, but it was a natural progression.
Previously, I was employed by McGarvey Coffee Co. which was purchased by Superior Coffee and then became a brand within Sara Lee Coffee & Tea. Sara Lee decided to sell it’s coffee division and close everything in the US, thus leading to my unemployment. Thus, Full City Roasters LLC/Sweetwater Roasters was born!

When one door closes; another one opens and it often has a prize on the other side!
If Sara Lee hadn’t closed our facility, I would have laughed at my husband
when he suggested I do what I love and roast my own coffees!

Farmers markets seemed to be the best way to get into our communities with our product. We focused on 5 markets and filled out applications. These same markets; Excelsior, Chanhassen, Victoria, Plymouth and Maple Grove (at the time), led to some wonderful opportunities for our roastery.
The Excelsior market led to a church buying our coffee for their coffee hour. The Maple Grove market brought us in contact with Aki’s Bread Haus in NE Minneapolis. Aki purchases our coffee to sell by the cup and by the pound at his bakery. Farmers markets also led to involvement in BNI, a business networking group meeting in Excelsior at The Commons WP. This led to The Commons choosing our coffee for their Excelsior operation. The networking opportunities keep on coming, from BNI to our farmers market customers!
